The Dean's List has a confession to make - I have a big guilty pleasure - Reality Dating Television Shows. The Bachelor, The Bachelorette, and even the ghetto fabulous Flavor of Love and I Love New York (if you tell someone about those two, I'll have to hurt you!).
Since I can't even remember the last time I've been out on a date, I live vicariously through others and their dating experiences. Even though I can't imagine myself engaging in most of the activity that happens on these shows, I can't help but wonder how I handle having a selection of 25 men! As I watched the season premiere of The Bachelorette, I wouldn't mind giving it a try (for research purposes of course!).
I do have one major issue with all of these shows. They only cater to a younger demographic. Not only are the contestants young, all of them are beautiful, handsome, size 2, 6 pack having, perfect smiles and D cups or better! These folks are not representative of the average Jane or Joe.
The forty + crowd wants to date too (forty is the new thirty). Our age group doesn?t necessarily do the club scene or other types of outings simply because we've outgrown them. Our opportunities to meet new, available, interesting people in our age group, is limited.
I think we need to start our own "Reality Dating Show" - "Grown, Sexy & Single in Rochester." The Dean's List would be more than happy to participate in the pilot (once again, for research purposes only).
