Comedy Central has added new television projects to its 2009 development slate: one from rapper Snoop Dogg, the other from comedian David Alan Grier, the network announced Wednesday.
The untitled Snoop Dogg project will take an animated look at the artist's life as a 15-year-old in 1980s Long Beach. Tha Doggfather and Tom Lynch will executive produce.
"We've been looking to get into business with Snoop, who's always fantastic on our roasts," said Lauren Corrao, Comedy Central's president of original programming and development. "He's one of those people who truly crosses over between music and comedy."
Meanwhile, the magazine-show parody "David Alan Grier's Chocolate News," originally developed at the channel last year as a presentation, will now be shot as a pilot.
