The Dean's List - What's Right? What's Wrong?
by Dean

It seems every time you turn around, our country is in a heated debate about what's right and what's wrong. The recent allegations surrounding our Governor Eliot Spitzer have opened the opinion flood gates once again!

Should he stay in office? Should he resign? Should he go to jail? Maybe his wife wasn't giving him any, so it's ok for him to get it from somewhere else? Maybe we are in the wrong business, cause at $1000 an hour, I want in? Should prostitution be legal since it's the oldest profession is the world?

Bottom line - The Governor broke the law! Solicitation of a prostitute is illegal. So - what's the question?

Why do we question the possible situation that leads someone to participate in illegal acts instead of the facts of what they did? We have a tendency to be more lenient on individuals we like and make excuses for their actions. Democrats stick with Democrats, Republicans stick with Republicans, Whites stick with Whites, Blacks stick with Blacks, etc. Let's try to stick with what's right!

Maybe I'm living in an unreal world (as I've often been accused of)? Am I the only one who believes that you must pay for your mistakes? I'm not saying I'm perfect (far from it actually), but I do know that there are consequences for every action. If I don't break the law, I won't go to jail. Seems simple to me.

I believe the Governor should resign from office (if he doesn't, he will get impeached). If any of the other "Johns" that frequented the "Emperors Club VIP" are prosecuted, Governor Spitzer should be as well. But more importantly, he should buy a good pair of knee pads to use while he is begging his wife and children for forgiveness. Maybe he can call Bill Clinton and Kobe Bryant for some advice on how to move forward.
