The Dean's List - Random Questions and Thoughts
by Dean

The Dean's List didn't sleep too well last night. There have been many things going on that I can't stop thinking about.

I have some questions and as always I have my own thoughts and views. What do you think?:

Questions:

Why did several girls start fighting at the Blue Cross Arena during the sectionals? Why did they feel it necessary to wait until they had a captive crowd to watch them act like animals? Where were their parents? Why didn't these girls have any self-respect?

Thoughts:

If you recognize any of the girls shown on the news that were involved in this altercation, go find them and teach them how to act like a lady. Tell them how stupid they looked fighting the police on the news. And if I hear one person call the Watercooler and complain that the police didn't have to be so rough with these girls, I'll scream!!!!!

Questions:

Why won't people step up and admit they are wrong about something? Why does pride, politics or pure stubbornness get in the way of folks doing the right thing? Doesn't it seem that doing the right thing even if it hurts your pride, makes a rough situation smooth?

Thoughts:

Just say "I apologize" Sheriff O'Flynn - Be a man about it!

Questions:

Don't you hate it when people say, "that the way we always do it"? Why is everyone so afraid of change?

Thoughts:

Even though is does take you out of your comfort zone, change can be good. It's ok to do something different - most of the time it can be beneficial. Just approach it with an open heart and mind. It's a new day - old ways don't always work and halts you from being competitive with everyone else!

Questions:

Why did young people throw red bandanas into the caskets of Brent Coley and De'Marri Shaw (the two 15 year olds murdered last week)? Where were the parents of these young people to tell them that this wasn't a respectful thing to do? Why don't people have any respect for themselves and others and start fights outside of a funeral home while a wake is in progress? Why did a news reporter in Baltimore over hear a child who was attending a funeral of a gang member, as the deceased lay in a "blinged out casket" say, "I want a casket like that"? What ever happened to dreams of having a new bike or video game?

Thoughts:

My prayers go out to everyone who has lost a loved one to violent crime. My heart hurts for you and I can't imagine what you must be going though. God Bless all of you. But - it is a known fact that bandanas (red ones in this case) are gang related. If you are not involved in a gang, you shouldn't participate in the game - It could get you killed! Wake up and recognize. Stop making excuses for your children (and yourselves). Take responsibility. It's not too late to change. It's not too late to save your life!
