Ok! 1st off, I'm not going to fight them on 6 of the 10, but I disaggree on where they put them and you have to have teams on there. Here is my 10 Best Sports Rivalries and why!
1- Yankees Vs. Red Sox - The two teams together gets your blood flowing. And, I'm a Mets Fan (1986 BABY! Sorry Red Sox Nation) I sit and watch these two teams go at it every year 3 game set, 4 game set and Playoff! Doesn't matter the stakes. 2 teams, 2 cities and the fans that hate each other. Now that is a Sports Rivalry!
2- Muhammad Ali Vs. Joe Frazier - Boxings Golden Age! Right now Boxing is getting killed by UFC/MMA or whatever it is! Men's Vogue is Right on this one! Thanks, ESPN Classic!
3-Michigan Vs. Ohio State - Aaahhhhh! College Football at it best! I guess a rumor was going around that the two schools wanted to get a sponsor for that game. HELL NO! Please, everything else has price tag on sports, Not that to. I admit, I'm a fan of Wolverines Football!
4-Bill Russell vs. Wilt Chamberlain - Men's Vogue got it right here! I wasn't even born to watch them play but the highlights tell the whole story. (ESPN Classic Baby)
5-Arnold Palmer vs. Jack Nicklaus - Can't fight Men's Vogue on that one! Before my time by that's why ESPN Classic is the second best Sports Channel, #1 ESPN News (Just give me the Scores and Highlights, Please!!!!!!!!!)
6-Martina Navratilova vs. Chris Evert - Before Venus and Serena I watched a little tennis. (Mostly to see McEnroe go off on someone!) Martina and Chris was always great to watch. Then came Agassi Vs.Sampras, Williams Sisters Vs. Anyone but each other in the Finals and Now, Federer Vs. Nadal!
7-Magic Vs. Bird - Before Jordan ran the NBA! It was Magic Johnson and Larry Bird. NBA Basketball at it,s best. Lakers Vs. Celtics was never dull. It was East Vs. West! Showtime Vs. The Best Front Court in the Game!
8- Tiger Woods Vs. The Field In A Major - PTI on ESPN has this debate 4 times a year. I take Tiger every time. He won 2 Majors in 2005 and 2006 and 1 last year! Even Las Vegas would take those odds.
9- Tony Stewart Vs. Any Driver In or Out of NASCAR - Listen, my favorite driver is Little-E, but Stewart's Motto is like that new fight movie "Never Back Down" (watching the trailer it looks like it should have gone straight to DVD) Stewart never backs down from Drivers, Broadcasters and even NASCAR themselves.
10- Men's College Basketball Duke Vs. North Carolina And Woman's College Basketball Connecticut and Tennessee - Not what they where a few years ago. But, when these programs are on the floor. March Madness lives up to it name.
Sorry, Horse Race lovers. I'm just not into your sport!
