Online betting sites are are stacking the odds in favor of Barack Obama to become the Democratic nominee and to win key upcoming Primararies that have otherwise been predicted to go to rival Senator Hillary Clinton.
According to the New York Daily News, "several overseas online exchanges" name Obama as the likely winner of "all the upcoming primaries, including Texas and Ohio."
He's also a safe bet to ascend to the presidency this November.
"Obama has all the momentum, and the betting odds reflect that," said Steve Budin, an oddsmaker at sportsinfo.com.
In terms of winning the White House, line-setters place Obama's chances at 50 percent, John McCain's at 34 percent, and Clinton's at 17 percent.
As the newest spinoff of Internet gambling, online political betting has raked in roughly $50 million during this election alone.
Obama trounced Clinton in this week's "Potomac Primary" held in Washington, D.C., Virginia and Maryland. Prior to that, Obama swept Clinton in the post-Super Tuesday primaries.
Several hip-hop notables have come out in support of Obama, including Talib Kweli, Common, will.i.am, Chi-town rapper Rhymefest, Duck Down duo Kidz in the Hall and Q-Tip.
Meanwhile, 50 Cent said he is backing Hillary Clinton because he doesn't think the U.S. is ready for a black president, and Lupe Fiasco said he wants Clinton to win, although he will not vote.
