I am a proud Rochesterian who has experienced both positives & negatives in the ghetto dealing with police. Now there is a "Zero Tolerance" Policy.
I've also experienced both sides of this initiative.
But I look @ the news over the weekend and the photos on WDKX.com, and two Black activists, David Gantt & Minister Florence are ARRESTED in a public forum?
This is just plain crazy! How can two men who helped not only uplift but maintain our community, be arrested within our community?
I can not understand the decisions of some of our "powers that be" decide, and that may be some of the reasons I've seen both positive & negative aspects of the law. Thats another blog..
Since coming to WDKX two years ago, I've met and learned pertinent information about and from these local Black leaders. I've also met and have been befriended by some of "Rochester's Finest". I know and understand their profession is a most difficult one. I admire and respect all law enforcement who honor and respect the code they are sworn to. These are our hero's of today.
Yet I can't understand how two public icons get arrested by anyone of our law officers. These two men helped establish and construct our environment. To arrest them, yet there is crime running rampant within our community?
This just %!$$#s me off!
I'm in Lil Jon mode. WHAT?!? This is total disrespect to our Black heritage and the ENTIRE community which is Rochester, N.Y.
