LMAO! LMAO!
by Liz

OK -- So, I was asked to be one of "The Insider's" five bachelorettes (there were also five bachelors) for Valentine's Day -- a person they could bounce ideas off of about love and romance. Here is how the conversation goes (via email) -- it has not be altered.

THIS IS WHAT I RECEIVED:

"Liz,
It's (...) with Insider. How have you been?
I have a question for you and it's going to seem really random, but bare with me.
Let me give you the brief synopsis. For our Valentine's Week issue we're tracking down 5 bachelorettes and bachelors. Top put it more simple, it's a profile on 10 local singles and their ideas on love and romance.
Now, I don't know your relationship status. You may be married for all I know, but I was wondering if you, yourself might be interested in being profiled. I've just been emailing most of the contacts I think would be good for this during the past week or so.
Let me know what you think. If you're not up for it, that's cool. Thought I'd ask anyway. I thought you would be good for the piece."

THIS IS WHAT I REPLIED:

"As long as it is not a 'let's fix Liz up with a guy' piece, I am in. LOL! It sounds like it would be cute and I talk about that stuff on the radio all the time anyway.
E"

THIS IS WHAT I RECEIVED BACK:

"Sweet... Yeah, it's definitely not a let's fix Liz up piece. If we were doing something like that, I don't think I could get anyone to do it. But I'm glad you're in. I'll send you the questions later today.

Thanks."

THE ONLY THING IS... when I picked up the copy today the quote next to my head said "Could one of these singles be the one for you?"

LMAO! Now didn't I just say....

Man, oh, man! I don't know where the lines were blurred, where the confusion was, but whatever. The guy who put it together is a person I would consider a friend, so I know there was nothing malicious about it or deceitful, I just think he didn't know how it was going to be spun. It happens.

The thing is, the guys at the station (my co-hosts and boss Dre), they are getting a KICK OUT OF THIS! I mean, for real! They are going to milk this for all it's worth. I have a feeling they are going to set up a dating contest for me this Valentine's Day. They mentioned it like they are joking, but there is truth to every joke, right? I know what's coming. Evil, evil boys! LOL!

Anyway, my girls are nicer, of course. Many have called me up to compliment the cover (which is something else I didn't know -- I thought I was going to be a small inset).

Not all the questions I answered made it into the article, so I am copying and pasting those below. Some are funnier than others I think, but I know all my ladies can feel me. I mean really: Is it just me or is the dating pool for professional, single sistas shallow as hell in Rochester... I mean slim to none? I hope I am wrong and that they are all just hiding out in some batcave we don't know about, making the same complaints about finding single sistas of substance, but I doubt it. Anyway, here are my answers. Ladies, let me know if you vibe with me!

Full Name: Liz Medhin
Age: 27
Residence (What part of Rochester do you live in?): Huh... you don't need to know

Occupation(s) and where: WDKX WakeUp Club Co-Host and 13WHAM News Reporter/Fill-in Anchor

What are your hobbies/interests: Reading, Watching Movies, Painting, Writing Poetry, Watching Football, Bowling

What's your sign: Capricorn, baby!!!

Rate yourself, looks wise, on a scale from 1 to 10: LOL! I can't rate myself!!! But if I have to, "Shawty is a teeeennnn...."

Why that rating: because Atu told me putting anything less would be dumb... and I like to think I am smart.

Are you a flowers or chocolates type of girl: Do I have to choose? Don't they go together?!

Describe your ideal guy: Brilliant! Thoughtful, considerate, reliable, and FINE. Driven... must be ambitious.

What is the best/worst date you've been on and when was each: The worst date of my life was when I went out with my girl's cousin when I was 19. We were supposed to go to a movie and then to dinner, but when he arrived he was wearing a dirty t-shirt with pit stains, cut off jeans, and dirty Jordans! I am not one who really cares about cars, but he didn't even pick up the wrappers on the floor. DISGUSTING. My mom and I looked at him like "No this brotha didn't." I was so embarrassed. I didn't want to be rude though, so I went to the movie anyway. We skipped dinner though. For some reason, I didn't have an appetite.
The best date I ever had was going to Dave and Buster's in Time Square last year. LOL! We had a simple dinner, complex drinks, and then I proceeded to whoop him at basketball and air hockey. I love when guys underestimate me and I love competition, especially when it is playful. It was a great first date.

What are your turn ons/turn offs: Guys who are self-absorbed and those who don't take care of their appearance. I also hate laziness and definitely hate excuses.

What are your plans for Valentine's Day: The same thing as last year: nothing! LOL! I might send myself some flowers and chocolates (since they go together).

What's the most romantic thing someone's ever done for you: My college sweetheart was an amazing writer. We were headed towards a breakup though and we both knew it. One of our last times out to dinner, he spontaneously took the back of a scrap piece of paper and wrote a beautiful poem for me I still have to this day. Although it was in the midst of a breakup, that was still the most romantic gesture someone's done for me because I knew it was genuine.

What Hollywood hunk would you most want to hook up with: ANDRE 3000, Idris Elba, Henry Simmons, and Mario -- and no, I am not choosing between them...

What Hollywood hunk would you most want to marry: Andre 3000

Have you ever been star struck by a celebrity you've met or interviewed: Andre 3000 and Mario -- In person with Mario, I was cool, but the phone interview was a surprise from my co-host Tariq. All of Rochester got to hear me choke! The only thing that made it worse was that the exact same thing happened when I interviewed Andre 3000 over the phone. Please lawd -- don't let me meet that man in person unless I am totally prepared!

Where is your favorite place to meet new people: I don't know???

Do you ever get guys calling WDKX interested in meeting you, and if you could you give an example: They call all the time. It is actually sweet... unless they are crazy stalker-types and then I just hand the calls over to by boys (Tariq, B.I.R.D., and Andy). They handle it.

What is your favorite love song and why: Etta James, "At Last." That is the most beautiful, heartfelt love song ever sung. I think every girl, including myself, looks forward to the day those words come true. AWWWWWW --- can we stop with this mushy stuff now, already?
