The Big Game - no, not Super Bowl XLII on Sunday between the New England Patriots and New York Giants at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale - is nearing.
For 11-year-old running back/linebacker Dionte Sykes, the biggest game Super Bowl weekend is the Snooper Bowl All-Star Game, scheduled for Saturday at Hamilton High.
Sykes, who plays in the Chandler Youth Football and Cheer Association, is one of 34 players chosen to play the game against an all-star team from singer/actor Snoop Dogg's Youth Football League in Los Angeles.
"I used to live in Los Angeles and played against some of those teams," said Sykes, a sixth-grader from Florence. "They're pretty good. But we're pretty good, too. I think we're going to pull it off".
All proceeds of the ticket sales go to the Matt Leinart (Arizona Cardinals QB) Foundation, to support disadvantaged youths.
