PBS' "Tavis Smiley" will celebrate its fifth birthday this week with well-wishes from some of Hollywood's brightest stars, including Denzel Washington, Halle Berry and Jamie Foxx.
Their taped salutes will air each night on the show through the rest of the month. One is provided by actor Will Smith, who assures Smiley that he's "just as intelligent and sexy and handsome as you've always been."
Smiley says he'll continue to stay on top of the presidential candidates and their issues with special broadcasts from both parties' political conventions. This season will also feature a special week of broadcasts in early April from Memphis, Tenn., in recognition of the 40th anniversary of the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr.
Guests this week include Washington, Carlos Santana and former Secretary of State Colin Powell. Smiley asks the former official his thoughts about Pakistan, Kenya and other global hot spots, as well as about the surprising developments in the 2008 presidential race.
