Whitney Houston's divorce to Bobby Brown has experienced a further delay after both parties failed to turn up to court on Friday for a scheduled hearing.
The court date had previously been thrown into doubt after Brown's attorney, Stacey Phillips, filed a motion to quit as the R&B singer's lawyer following a series of rows with her client.
But the hearing had not been officially called off, and because neither Houston nor Brown or their respective lawyers bothered to appear before Superior Court Judge Claudia Silbar on Friday, Phillips' request to be released as Brown's counsel was denied.
Houston's attorney, Stephen Kolodny, claims the superstar was too ill to attend court, reports TMZ.com.
The former couple wed in 1992 and split in 2006. They are each fighting for legal and physical custody of their 14-year-old daughter Bobbi Kristina.
