Pimp C will be laid to rest Thursday in his beloved hometown of Port Arthur, according to a statement released Monday December 10 by UGK's longtime publicist.
The memorial service is set to take place at the Robert A. "Bob" Bowers Civic Center in Texas. The funeral will be open to public and begin at 11 a.m.
Pimp C (real name: Chad Butler) died unexpectedly of unknown causes on Tuesday in a Los Angeles hotel room. He was 33.
According to Pimp C's label, Rap-A-Lot Records, he was in California to perform a few spot dates alongside fellow veteran rapper Too Short. After family members didn't hear from Butler for several days, however, a phone call was placed to the Mondrian hotel and he was discovered alone dead in his room.
No official cause of death has been cited yet. An autopsy was conducted and results will be available in a few weeks.
The passing of the wildly popular rapper shocked many in the hip-hop community. Pimp, alongside his rhyming partner, Bun B, were wildly influential, with a slew of Southern artists - ranging from T.I. to Slim Thug to Paul Wall - all citing Pimp and Bun as major inspirations.
