Oprah Winfrey will visit Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina to join Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama on the campaign trail.
Obama's campaign says Oprah will make appearances in Iowa on Saturday, December 8, with stops in Des Moines and Cedar Rapids. The following day, December 9, she'll stop in Columbia, S.C., before traveling to Manchester, N.H.
According to the Associated Press, Oprah raised about $3 million for the Obama campaign back in September with a fundraiser in California.
Meanwhile, People.com reports the celebrated TV talker took a secret trip to South Africa Sunday to meet with the family of the 12-year-old girl who left her Leadership Academy amid claims she was being abused by a member of the staff.
"I am very happy and pleased that Oprah heard our side of the story," the girl's father tells the mag. "We have closure."
"I am happy because at last we had a chance to speak," he added. "Oprah resolved everything."
The family has been asked back to attend an end-of-year party this Tuesday. The girl, whose name is not being revealed, will return to complete eighth grade at the elite school.
