Bajans as well as visitors to the island will get to experience the "biggest open air festival of Caribbean culture", the Nova CultureFest 2007 runs from this Friday, November 16, to Sunday, November 18 at the Pelican Craft Center on Princess Alice Highway.
The Barbados Investment and Development Corporation and a number of private sector entities will be producing this three-day open air festival, dubbed "an explosion of true Caribbean culture". On offer will be the best that the islands in cuisine, craft and fashion. It will get under way at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, November 16, with several activities taking place throughout the day and an official opening occurring later in the evening.
On Saturday, November 17, a full day of activities will be offered, from a farmer's market beginning at 7:00 a.m. to the climax of the day's events with main stage entertainment. It continues on Sunday with the one of the highlights being the Caribbean Sunday Lunch which runs from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. The Harbour Road, will be transformed into the longest fashion runway ever seen in the island, when a grand fashion show will bring the festival to a fitting close.
Throughout the festival, which caters to the entire family, patrons will get to see master craftsmen create traditional items using pottery, basketry, wood carving and weaving; as well as displays of glass blowing and live cooking demonstrations. A special kids zone will also be in operation during peak hours.
