Jay-Z On VH1 Storytellers
VH1 Storytellers: Jay-Z: Life of an American Gangster" premieres tonight at 9 p.m. The hour-long concert, recorded Oct. 24 at Steiner Studios in Brooklyn, features Jay-Z performing eight songs off of his new Roc-A-Fella album, "American Gangster," which is inspired by the film of the same name.
Jay-Z is backed by a 12-piece band and a large projection screen which surrounds the stage as he performs, enveloping him in imagery that relates both literally and figuratively to the lyrics in his songs.
Following in "Storytellers" format, viewers will hear Jay-Z discuss the inspiration and stories behind each of the songs performed, which include "Pray," "Dreamin," "Roc Boys," "Sweet," "Party Life," "I Know," "Fallin,"
and "Blue Magic."
