Looks like Diddy didn't do, as far as the authorities are concerned.
Three weeks after police announced they were investigating allegations that Sean Combs smacked down an acquaintance at a New York nightspot, the "Mo' Money, Mo' Problems" rapper's lawyer says no charges will be filed.
"I've been informed by the Manhattan District Attorney's Office that after a thorough investigation, they have made a decision not to authorize any arrests in connection with the incident involving Mr. Combs and Steven Acevedo on Oct. 13," Combs' counsel, Benjamin Brafman, said in a statement.
"I want to commend the D.A.'s office and the New York City Police Department for conducting a thorough and very fair investigation into this incident and not allowing this private disagreement between two acquaintances to turn into a criminal charge."
There was no immediate comment from either the D.A. or NYPD on the case.
The purported throwdown took place inside Manhattan's trendy Kiosk nightclub at around 3:30 a.m. Police sources said Acevedo, 31, filed a police report after he and Combs, 37, got into a beef over an unidentified woman (rumor has it that it was Cassie).
According to news reports, the men were involved in an "intense" discussion before entering the club's main room, where they were spun over to separate tables. Shortly after, Combs reportedly "aggressively marched" over to Acevado's table, where he let loose with two successive jabs.
The New York Post reported one of Diddy's bodyguards stepped between the men to prevent any further fisticuffs. Acevedo reportedly suffered a bloody nose and fat lip, per the newspaper.
Such altercations can typically result in misdemeanor assault charges.
The following day, Brafman shot down speculation that Combs was about to surrender to police and be charged.
"We are hopeful that this matter will be resolved without the filing of any criminal charges, as this was a disagreement among acquaintances, not a criminal assault."
Diddy and Acevedo were said to have met following the incident and apparently worked out their differences. He was later quoted as saying he didn't want to see Combs face any court time for their dustup.
While the heat's off in the Acevedo matter scuffle, Diddy's docket isn't clear yet.
Last month, hip-hop promoter James Waldon filed a $5 million lawsuit, claiming he was roughed up by Diddy's bodyguards at a New York club last June.
The 27-year-old Waldon claimed he suffered numerous injuries in the purportedly unprovoked attack, including damage to his mouth and teeth, after being repeatedly punched in the face and kicked while attempting to approach the superstar's table.
