After a 13-year-hiatus, Arrested Development is attempting a comeback with a new album, titled "Since the Last Time," released through their own indie label Vagabond Records.
The rap collective, led by front frontman Speech, aims to stake a claim in today's drastically changed music industry with the same style of spiritual, message-oriented hip hop that flavored their 1992 breakthrough album "3 Years, 5 Months and Two Days in the Life Of ..." and its standout single "Tennessee."
Will the group's organic flavor be able to survive in today's sexually-suggestive hip hop scene dominated by the teen and tween "106 & Park" crowd and their love of party and dance records?
"I believe in miracles," answered Speech, the group's lead rapper, quoting "Miracles," the album's first single, which addresses the group's comeback effort.
"People have been saying they're tired of this one-dimensional viewpoint of our community, of what our values are," he said. "Now, it's an opportunity to put their money where their mouth is and support music that's not about that."
