VH1 Hip Hop Honors - Tonight!

Tonight's broadcast of the 4th annual "VH1 Hip Hop Honors" was recorded Thursday night (Oct. 4) at New York's Hammerstein Ballroom featuring such artists as Keyshia Cole, Nelly Furtado, Diddy and Eve performing musical salutes to the honorees.

This year's ceremony paid homage to A Tribe Called Quest, Snoop Dogg, Whodini, Missy Elliott, Fab 5 Freddy and Charlie Ahern for the Film "Wild Style," and Teddy Riley and Andre Harrell for New Jack Swing.

The show kicked off with the tribute to Missy. Her mentee Tweet and longtime music partner Timbaland performed "The Rain," which was followed by a rendition of the "Hot Boyz" remix by Eve and Keyshia Cole. Next were Fatman Scoop and Ciara performing "Lose Control," and finally Nelly Furtado closed with her version of "Get Your Freak On."

Sean "Diddy" Combs took the stage to introduce his mentor Andre Harrell, calling him the "Berry Gordy of his time." Also paying homage to Teddy Riley, Diddy dubs him the "first dude to rock the dark shades indoors," citing him as the "original best of both worlds in hip hop & R&B"
and as one of the "greatest producers of all time."

Diddy's intro led into the New Jack Swing tribute, which began with Guy's hit single, "I Like" performed by Ne-Yo, and the Keith Sweat hit, "I Want Her" performed by T-Pain, all with the man himself, Teddy Riley on the keyboard. Kool Moe Dee popped on stage to rap his own New Jack Swing hit, "How You Like Me Now." Then, Riley grabbed the mic and performed his Blackstreet hit "No Diggity" and the Wreckx N Effect classic, "Rump Shaker."

Next, 2005 honoree LL Cool J took the stage to introduce the first true hip hop movie "Wildstyle," opening the stage to DJ Kool Herc and KRS-One with their rendition of "Feel The Heartbeat."

Actor Chris Rock introduced the next honoree of the night - Whodini - who took it way back with tributes from Nelly and Jermaine Dupri performing the group's biggest hits, "One Love" and "The Freaks Come Out At Night."
Topping off the performance, Whodini rocked a medley of old school dances from the "Snake" to the "Wop."

Taking it to the wessyde, VH1 paid homage to honoree Snoop via Pharrell, T.I., Ice T and Bow Wow gracing the stage for "Drop It Like It's Hot" and "What's My Name.'

Common, Lupe Fiasco and Busta Rhymes closed the show with their performance of "Bonita Applebaum," "Electric Relaxation," and "Scenario" to salute the night's final honoree, A Tribe Called Quest. The group, themselves, took the stage to perform their hits "Award Tour" and "Check The Rhyme."

Hosted by Tracy Morgan, the 4th Annual "VH1 Hip Hop Honors" premieres tonight at 10 p.m. Red carpet interviews and all show performances will be available for viewing on VH1.com
