Kanye Like Jesus?

In terms of self-confidence-bordering-on-arrogance, it appears as if the apple doesn't fall far from the tree for Kanye West.

In Baltimore to sign copies of her book "Raising Kanye," his mom Donda West compared her boy to some important figures in history.

"Kanye keeps it real. He touches the people. You never know how words can save a person's life, physically or otherwise," she tells the Baltimore Sun. "People like Martin Luther King or Mahatma Gandhi or, in my view, Barack Obama, or Jesus Christ - people whose job it is to tell the truth - I see that in Kanye. Now, people like you are gonna go, 'Oh, Kanye's mom said he's like Jesus!' but ... when you have a gift, you didn't get it by yourself. ... Your truth is your truth."

Meanwhile, Donda's child may have made history this past weekend as the first rapper to ever freestyle at length during a performance on "Saturday Night Live."

The rapper rocked a medley of hits - including "Stronger" and "The Good Life" - during two sets on the show's season premiere, which was hosted by Cleveland Cavaliers star Lebron James. At the end of his second performance, West told the crowd he was going "off the dome," then proceeded to freestyle about such topics as his botched performance - when he messed up a line - and his dressing room guests Jay-Z and Beyonce.

In one of the skits:

West portrayed himself as a guest on BET's "106 & Park" addressing his recent hissy fits over failing to win awards. The rapper was asked to comment on a series of clips that showed him having fits over losing a Kid's Choice Award, a Nobel Prize and even cursing out an 8-year-old girl at a county fair for beating him in a "best pumpkin" contest.
