Producers are searching for an actor to the fill the shoes of the now legendary Notorious B.I.G. for an upcoming biopic about the rapper's life. Actors and non-actors alike are encouraged to try out for the as-yet-untitled film from Fox Searchlight. The late rapper's mother, Voletta Wallace, sold the rights to the film back in 2005 while Biggie's two former managers, Wayne Barrow and Mark Pitts, will serve as the film's producers. The Associated Press reports that the studio is looking to audition anyone - professional or amateur - who resembles the late artist. At one point during the project's long gestation period, producers were eyeing Forest Whitaker for the role, however, the 46-year-old actor- being nearly twice the age of Biggie when he died at 24 - was something that just couldn't be overlooked. Antoine Fuqua is no longer attached to direct the project exiting the film citing concerns with the amount of control producers had over the film's creative elements. The script focuses on the rapper, born Christopher Wallace, when he was away from the public eye, zeroing in on "the humanity within Christopher himself." Those hoping to be considered for the role can submit audition videos to foxsearchlight.com/biggie or biggiecasting.com. The producers hope to begin production this fall.
