Mya's dishing on the tough lessons she has learned about being a woman in the music business. In the new issue of "Vibe Vixen," the singer says touring with the all-male singing group Dru Hill in 1997 really opened her eyes to the good, the bad, and the ugly of the industry. Recalling the guys and their popularity with the ladies, Mya said she decided she was going to walk a different path to womanhood. She says, quote, "Seeing the thrill, the lifestyle, seeing them with different girls all the time, I remember saying to myself, 'I don't want to be one of those girls.'" Mya verbally reinforced that point last year, taking rapper 50 Cent to task for making unfounded claims about the nature of their relationship in the 2006 mixtape track "Not Rich, Still Lying." When Mya heard 50's lyrical boasts that he had had sex with her, she denied the story in the press and to the rapper's face. She says she saw him and addressed him about it in person at his manager's offices, adding quote, "I just let him know how I felt." You can read more of Mya's interview in the current issue of "Vibe Vixen" on newsstands now.
