R. Kelly's wife is standing by her man, even on the verge of divorce. Despite reports of her requests for protective orders against the singer and claims of physical abuse, Andrea Lee Kelly says she's playing "homeland defense" for her family. Andrea Kelly opens up in the new issue of "Essence" magazine, on newsstands next week. It's the first time she's spoken out publicly since her husband was charged with child pornography in connection almost five years ago. In her interview with the magazine, Andrea says she doesn't believe that R. Kelly is the man at center of the criminal charges, even though she has never seen the infamous videotape. And even though the couple filed for divorce last year, Andrea insists that R. Kelly's legal predicament is not behind their split. She says part of the reason she has remained quiet until now is that she has been focused on protecting their children, "being a lioness" for her cubs. Kelly made headlines this week for a tribute track he wrote for the victims and survivors of the recent Virginia Tech University massacre. The song is called "Rise Up." It will be released through various digital outlets on May 15th.
