Wake-Up Shake-Up With Shondra - Salon

Service is one thing. Professional service is another. After the hustle and bustle of the work week, what's better than a bit of pampering? So, here are some tips to use when rating your experience at a beauty salon:

Cleanliness of the establishment

-Is the establishment clean? Is there a quiet, select waiting area in which one can read or watch television while waiting? Are refreshments available (some salons offer free coffee and bottled water as a courtesy)?

Promptness of the service

-Is service rendered immediately or within 7 minutes of arrival (considering that you arrived on time)? Is service continualmeaning you don't experience any "downtime?" Some clients have to wait around while the stylist runs errands or squeezes someone else in? Is the duration of service consistent each time, or is it unpredictable?

Ambiance

-Is the mood a warm and inviting one? Or, when you open the door of the establishment does gossip spill out like hot oil? Here we go again: Cell phones become a nuisance at public establishments and many ban use of them. Professional stylists limit phone calls and never continue service while talking on the phone. Clients should also be wary of over use of cell phones in a salon, if phones are allowed. Often, other clients complain that cell phone conversations are quite inappropriate and very revealing of drama! Besides that, general conversation among those in the establishment should remain friendly and clean.

Feedback

-Are you comfortable sharing both positive and negative feedback? For example, some stylists do not make clients feel comfortable to share negative feedback about their experiences. In this case, stylists might consider providing clients with feedback cards so that clients can anonymously leave feedback. However, in most cases, the feedback needs to be given directly by the client, and therefore, the stylist should try to keep a warm, open door policy.
