WDKX and RazorSharks Host Skills Clinic for Youth

The clinic for boys and girls will be broken down by age groups.

9:00AM - 9:45AM: 8-12 year olds

10:15AM - 11:00 AM: 13-17 year olds

11:30AM - 12:15PM: 18 years & up

RazorSharks players and coaching staff will instruct participants in basketball skills and provide training to help further their development as basketball players. Autograph opportunities with RazorSharks players will be available following each session.

The cost is $5 if registered prior to the event or $10 the day of. Proceeds to benefit Invest In Youth Campaign.

All registration will be done through the YMCA and registration forms can be picked up at the MetroCenter YMCA or found at www.rochesterymca.org (click on the Chester F. Carlson MetroCenter branch link) filled out and returned to the YMCA.

WHERE: Unity Hospital - 1555 Long Pond Road - Entrance near the child-care center

The Monroe County Office of Traffic Safety and Greece Safe Kids will host a free child passenger safety car seat check event to educate pregnant women, parents and caregivers about the benefits of using rear-facing child safety seats, provide information on child passenger safety recommendations for infants and share other useful transportation tips.

Motor vehicle crashes are a leading cause of hospitalizations and hospital emergency department visits for children under one year of age in New York State. When properly installed and used, child safety seats reduce fatal injury by 71 percent for infants riding in passenger cars.

Parents can register their children for school in the Rochester City School District at two locations including a new Parent Center on St. Paul Street.

Registrations are being taken now at:

690 St. Paul Street - Phone: 262-8241 or 232-2012

Both Parent Centers are open weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with Thursday hours extended to 6:00 p.m.

To register, parents should bring their child's birth certificate, immunization record, proof of address, and photo ID. Those new to Rochester should also bring their child's records from the previous school district if they have them.

Parent Centers at 353 Congress Avenue and 30 Hart Street are no longer open.

The first day of school for students is Wednesday, September 2. Schools will observe their Wednesday early dismissal schedules.

A motorcycle Run to benefit OASIS Adaptive Sports

OASIS (Outdoor Adventure for Sacrifice in Service) Adaptive Sports is a non-profit organization that has been created to help disabled veterans regain their physical and mental health through outdoors sports.

80 miles of beautiful scenery: Beginning at The Honeoye Commons, Honeoye for check-in and registration (10:30-12:00), follow Rt. 20A to Livonia, Geneseo, through Letchworth State Park, on to Nunda, Dansville, Naples, ending with a chicken bar-b-que dinner at beautiful Bristol Mountain, complete with live music by The Boogiemen and tee shirt give- a-ways from 2:00-4:30 at the base of the mountain.

$25: bike and driver early registration and payment, prior to the day of the event. $35: bike and driver registering the morning of event starting at 10:30am. $15: additional riders. $15: dinner and music event.
